How it Works

The West End Pay It Forward Trust is a simple and lasting way for you to make a difference in the community.  The trust fund is a permanent charitable fund to improve the West End now and for future generations.

  • Funds donated to the WEPIFT are put into a collective endowment, or “nest egg”. Interest gained from the endowment will be reinvested in the West End community in the form of grants for community and economic development.
  • The Pay It Forward Trust’s funds are pooled with other community funds within the Paradox Community Trust (Lone Cone Legacy Trust, Rico Legacy Endowment, and the Dove Creek Community Pay It Forward Club). This way, interest grows faster, administration fees are less, and the potential for matching funds to secure multi-jurisdictional state, local, and corporate donations is much greater.
  • Monies raised by the Pay It Forward Trust will be used only in the West End.
  • The West End Pay It Forward Trust’s Board of Directors will decide how these funds are reinvested in the community.

The Paradox Community Trust (PCT) is a 501(c)(3) supporting organization that serves as a vehicle to receive, hold and invest charitable dollars raised by participating local Paradox communities, including the West End–learn more here.

About America’s Transfer of Wealth Opportunity:

The United States is on the precipice of the largest inter-generational transfer of wealth in history as baby boomers begin to pass along their assets. A 2011 study from the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship estimated the U.S. household inter-generational transfer of wealth over the coming 50 years at $75 trillion. If just 5% of this projected wealth transfer were donated back to hometowns across America it could result in $3.75 trillion in new community endowments.

What does this mean for the West End? With limited economic resources, regional communities’ ability to capture and retain a portion of this wealth will have direct and positive economic benefits and will provide the means to preserve our community’s identity.

The West End’s Transfer of Wealth Opportunity:

  • 2010 Household Net Worth: $988 million
  • 10-year Transfer of Wealth Opportunity: $316 million
  • Value of 5% Giveback Goal: $2.5 million
  • Resulting 5% Annual Grantmaking Capability: $126,000
